Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi admits he is desperate to return to the pitch following the suspension of the Premier League due to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.
South African top-flight league was suspended on March 18th due to the coronavirus outbreak with the resume dates still unknown.
In an audio clip from Sports Extra, the goalkeeper said, "I sure hope you all are safe with your family during this time of the lockdown and following all the guidelines that will help us combat the coronavirus pandemic. As players, we are keeping ourselves fit by following a strict programme and holding sessions via video with our trainers."
"Training hard will help us ensure we are fit for when the league resumes. We are also in touch as players through technological means to maintain the team spirit. We cannot wait to get back and get our fans behind us. If we all comply, we will defeat this enemy facing us, so life can get back to normal."
Chiefs are currently on top of the table with 48 points, four above second-placed Mamelodi Sundowns.
