Manchester United is expected to raid their rivals Manchester City for the services of star forward Raheem Sterling.
The Independent (via The Express) reports that a European ban on Man City might see some of their star players leave the team with United expected to pounce on that advantage and lure Sterling to Old Trafford.
Even though the reports further indicate that a move to Real Madrid is more likely for Sterling, United will be in the race for Sterling’s signature if he is available.
“In other words, if he becomes available, United will go for him,” Miguel Delaney wrote for the Independent.
City who are expected to lose winger Leroy Sane in the summer are already in the market for another winger but the imminent ban from Europe competition might affect their bargaining power in the market.
There has been a lot of uncertainties relating to the forthcoming window due to the effects of coronavirus with clubs said not to have enough funds to get their targets something that might force them to sell some of their valuable players to balance books.
Midfielder Paul Pogba is expected to stay at United with Delaney reporting that United might be forced to go for Swansea City defender Joe Rodon, RB Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano or Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly for their defensive options.
