Former Kakamega Homeboyz goalkeeper Mathias Kigonya is reportedly coveted by Zambian and Zimbabwean clubs ahead of the 2020/21 season.
Uganda's Kawowo Sports reports that Zambia's Power Dynamos and Zesco United and Zimbabwe's Highlanders are trying to lure the Ugandan away from his current club Forest Rangers in Zambia.
It is understood that the shot-stopper's contract at the Zambian side runs out at the end of the month and he has been a offered a new deal but he is yet to commit.
“We have been monitoring the performance of Mathias Kigonya throughout the season at Forest Rangers. He is one of the players we would love to bring him to the Barbourfields for next season,” a Highlanders’ official who politely requested for anonymity spoke to Kawowo Sports.
Kigonya joined the Zambian side last year and has made 23 appearances keeping 13 clean sheets.
The Foresters currently seat top of the 20 team table standings with 46 points from 24 matches, a point ahead of second-placed NAPSA Stars who have played a game more before the final bend of the top-flight season in Zambia.
