🏆 Juventus win ninth successive Serie A title

Juventus are the Italian Serie A champions for the ninth straight season after a 2-0 win over Sampdoria on Sunday night.

The Old Lady went into the match four points ahead of second-placed Inter Milan, meaning a win is all they needed to secure another title.

And they comfortably secured it thanks to a goal in each half from Cristiano Ronaldo and Federico Bernardeschi.

The Goals

The match lacked clear-cut chances for long periods, with the hosts failing to turn their possession into anything meaningful.

This was however until the seventh minute of the first half before a clever team move saw Ronaldo open the scoring.

The hosts got a foul on the edge of the box and Miralem Pjanic spotted the Portuguese in a good position on the edge of the box and picked him out with a nice pass, who in turn applied a finishing touch for the lead.

The former Real Madrid star then came close again on the 61st minute with a near-perfect strike from distance, but it was expertly saved by the goalie.

It did not take long though for the second goal as Bernardeschi fired a rebound into the middle of the goal after the ball broke to him in the box for a 2-0 lead.

The visitors were then reduced to 10 men with 13 minutes to go after Morten Thorsby was shown his second yellow card to hand the advantage to the hosts.

Juventus got the chance to add a third from the penalty spot after Fabio Depaoli made a poor tackle in the box, but Ronaldo missed the resulting penalty, which should have drawn him level on Lazio's Ciro Immobile at the top of the scorers' chart.
