Mario Balotelli set to sign for Romanian side Cluj

Controversial Italian striker Mario Balotelli is set to move to Romania with CFR Cluj said to be interested in his services.

Balotelli left Brescia following a disagreement with the club that started with them updating his medical details on their official website to claim the striker was eight kilos overweight.

The move saw the striker refuse to train with the club on league resumption with his last appearance coming on March 9 with Brescia subsequently getting relegated.

Cluj owner, Nelutu Varga, has spoken about signing a 'top Italian striker', which the media in the country via The Daily Mail reports is Balotelli who is attracting offers from different clubs across the globe.

The 29-year-old, however, is still attracting interest from Brazil giants Flamengo but a chance to play in Europe next season by Cluj could prove to be too hard to turn down although wages could act as a roadblock to the move.

The club's best players earn up to £10,000 a week and there was disquiet among the squad when veteran Julio Baptista was signed on significantly more having barely kicked a ball for two years prior and the same might happen for Balotelli who is looking for a ninth permanent home.
