🇰🇪 City Stars striker Ebrahima Sanneh opens up on Zesco United links

Nairobi City Stars striker Ebrima Sanneh has opened up on his protracted move to Zesco United in 2015.

Sanneh had taken the Kenyan Premier League by storm and after attracting the attention of some of the big clubs in Kenya and beyond, he was sure that he was going to make the move to Zesco United but ended up signing for Ushuru FC.

In an interview with the club’s portal, the Gambian said: “After 2015 I had to leave the team. I had been scouted by big clubs after my first season with Nairobi City Stars.

“I had an offer from Zambia’s Zesco United and there were interests from all top Kenyan clubs. But I rejected all of them as I was sure (I thought) I would sign a contract with Zesco.

“Unfortunately, things never worked out which really disappointed me and I ended up signing with KRA on the last day for the transfer window for a year to redeem myself.”

In 2015, Sanneh scored 11 goals- including one against Sony Sugar on the final day-to help City Stars avoid relegation.

After stints with Ushuru, Kariobangi Sharks and St. George’s in Ethiopia, Sanneh was back to save City Stars in the second leg of the 2018/19 from dropping to Division One; the player signing a new two year deal with the club at the close of the disrupted 2019/20 season.
