FA Cup Winners Arsenal are edging closer towards concluding a deal for Lille defender Gabriel Magalhaes.
The Times reports that the Brazilian centre back completed a medical with the club after a fee of up to £27 million was agreed with Lille; the 22-year-old who was also a target for Napoli expected to sign a five-year contract.
Gabriel, who has played for Brazil Under-20, has become a recognised talent in France over the past 18 months. Gérard López, the Lille president, said a decision is expected by the weekend.
- But who exactly is Gabriel
The defender broke into Lille’s first-team over the last two seasons after featuring (on loan) at both Ligue 2 team Troyes and Dinamo Zagreb II.
The Brazilian is yet to earn an international cap but was due to make his debut for the Olympic team before the coronavirus put a stop to fixtures.
Lille has moved on swiftly in replacing the player with Sven Botman who signed for the club on Friday for €8million.
Apart from Napoli, Manchester United is believed to have been one of the teams interested in the player.
