PSG lose their Ligue 1 opener to Lens

Paris Saint Germain suffered a shock 1-0 loss to Lens in the Ligue 1 opener on Thursday evening.

PSG coach Thomas Tuchel was forced to field unfamiliar faces with a number of big names missing out. The likes of Neymar, Kylian Mbappe, and Angel Di Maria were all absent after the trio contracted coronavirus.

The French Ligue 1 champions totally dominated the game but were heartbroken by Igniatius Ganago who scored the only goal in the second half to hand the hosts all the three points.

Lens were confident on the ball going forward and went so close to taking the lead in the 17th minute. Ganago led a rare attack and advanced into the area, before beating a couple of men and thumping a low shot against the right post hand.

In the 57th minute, Lens took the lead after an awful error from Bulka. The goalkeeper passed the ball straight to Ganago on the edge of the area, and the forward held off a recovering challenge and rifled into the top right corner.

PSG continued to cause threats that yielded to nothing after 90 minutes and Lens claimed maximum points.
