Outgoing Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has prioritized playing over his finances.
As reported here on Futaa this week, Ozil is set to finalize a move to Turkish giants Fenerbahce after getting frozen out at Arsenal by Mikel Arteta.
But why is the final stage of his move taking a few extra days?
“Ozil is scheduled to earn around £7 million between now and the end of his contract in June, but negotiations are taking place between the club and the player’s camp about an early termination,” The Athletic reported.
“If a compromise is not found, the 32-year-old former Germany international will stay at Arsenal for the final five months of his deal and continue training with the first team as he has done hitherto,” added the report.
Meanwhile, Arsenal will welcome London neighbours Crystal Palace to the Emirates on Thursday night.
