Europa League Round-up: Arsenal, Tottenham register first-leg wins as AC Milan tag back Man United

The Europa League round of 16 was played on Thursday evening with a number of matches on the cards. 

Arsenal got important away goals as they beat Olympiacos 3-1 while Tottenham, playing at home registered a 2-0 victory over Dinamo Zagreb. Manchester United were left frustrated as they conceded a late goal against AC Milan at Old Trafford as they settled for a 1-1 draw. 

Here is what happened; 

Olympiacos 1-3 Arsenal

Arsenal has a huge lead ahead of the Europa League last 16 return leg at the Emirates following a 3-1 victory against Olympiacos. 

The Gunners dominated the first half and got the opener through Martin Odegaard who scored a stunner from outside the box. However, in the second half, Dani Ceballos gave away the ball and the Gunners were punished Youssef El Arabi had the chance to score into an empty net. 

Gabriel restored Arsenal's lead with a header before substitute Mohamed Elneny scored a screamer to hand the Gunners away victory. 

Tottenham 2-0 GNK Dinamo Zagreb 

At Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Tottenham registered a 2-0 victory against visiting Dinamo Zagreb to put them in a commanding position ahead of the return leg. 

Harry Kane scored the two goals in both halves to give the north London side the home victory.

Manchester United 1-1 AC Milan 

Premier League side Manchester United was left with a mountain to climb ahead of the return leg of the Europa League last 16 after drawing 1-1 against AC Milan at Old Trafford on Thursday night. 

Amad Diallo gave United the lead four minutes after his introduction in the second half but Simon Kjaer scored in the stoppage time to force a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford.
