England midfielder Jude Bellingham has revealed why he snubbed Manchester United for Borussia Dortmund.
Bellingham was sought by various teams in Europe during his time at Birmingham City with United thought to have been the frontrunners for his signature but despite being given a tour at Old Trafford, he chose against signing for the English giants.
“United have a fantastic squad, but I was so focused and so happy with the interest from Dortmund that this became my first choice. It was never a case of this club over this club. For me, it was always Borussia Dortmund, and that’s it.
“The only thing I was bothered about while making my decision was playing football, and this was the best place to do that. It’s as clear as day that if you come here and do the right things, you’re going to get your opportunity,” Bellingham told FourFourTwo.
The young midfielder move proved to be the right decision for his career as he has become one of the most dependable players for the Bundesliga side where he’s made 22 league appearances as well as eight in the Champions League.
Dortmund managed to secure the player’s signature in a fee that could rise up to £30 million.
