Norwich on brink of Premier League return with Derby win

Andrew Omobamidele's dream start to his senior career continued today, as a 1-0 win at Derby pushed Norwich City 17 points clear of third-placed Brentford, putting them on the verge of regaining their Premier League status.

The Canaries were denied promotion today as the Bees won 5-0 at Preston and Swansea beat Millwall, but they only need two more points to reclaim their place in the Premier League, one season after being relegated with only 21 points from 38 games.

Kieran Dowell's free-kick was the difference, but Norwich had to fight back in the second half, with Tim Krul making crucial saves before almost handing Graeme Shinnie a stoppage-time equalizer.

All signs point to Norwich reclaiming the Championship title, with the victory at Derby restoring their eight-point lead over second-placed Watford, who beat Reading 2-0 on Friday night.
