Solskjaer responds to Eric Bailly exit rumours

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has rubbished reports linking defender Eric Bailly away from Manchester United.

The Ivory Coast international is yet to feature for the Red Devils since a positive covid-19 test result while with the national team two weeks ago.

The 27-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at the manchester club, with Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof Ole Gunnar Solskajer's preferred first choice pair.

Speaking ahead of their weekend match against Burnley, Solskajer insisted he was happy with Bailly, further suggesting he will get a new contract.

“Eric has played well when he has played. I know there has been speculation, we are talking to him about his contract so I don’t see any issues really,” Ole explained in his pre-match press conference.

The defender has been isolating in his home country following the positive covid-19 test, but Solskajer is hopeful he will link up with the team soon.

“Eric has been isolating back home in the Ivory Coast and he is back in England now and we hope he can be available for the weekend,"

“Hopefully he can train tomorrow [Friday] depending on how he feels within himself but he has had the tests today so we need to get the confirmation that he is still negative.”

United could now have all their centre-backs available during the match against the Clarets, with Axel Tuanzebe, who featured against Granada on Thursday, and Phil Jones having fully recovered from long-term injuries.
