Méndez was in superb form for Celta in the Spanish LaLiga, scoring nine goals, more than any other midfielder without providing an assist.
Spain play their first match on Monday 14 June against Sweden, and will also face Poland and Slovakia in Group E with all fixtures to be held at the Estadio La Cartuja in Sevilla.
