Netherlands set to appoint Van Gaal as new head coach

The Dutch FA (KNVB) is set to appoint Louis Van Gaal as the Netherlands national team head coach.

De Telegraaf claims that the 69-year-old has agreed to an 18-month deal in charge of the Oranje replacing Frank de Boer with the former Manchester United manager set to take over the team for the third time in his career.

The reports further state that KNVB holds high expectations for Van Gaal with the tactician set to lead the team in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Van Gaal will be working with Danny Blind, Frans Hoek and Henk Fraser as his immediate assistants with the latter reportedly set to take charge after 18 months.

Apart from United, the Dutchman who managed Ajax, Barcelona, Bayern Munich has previously handled the Oranje from 2000-2002 and from 2012-2014, taking them to a third-place finish at the 2014 World Cup.
