Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly closing in on a £25.7 million deal to acquire Barcelona defender Emerson Royal.
The Brazilian international joined the Catalan giants in January 2019 but failed to make an impression, spending two and a half years on loan at Real Betis.
Following his comeback, Ronald Koeman has already given Emerson three starts in the 2021-22 La Liga season, but Barcelona's precarious financial condition means they may be willing to trade the right-back, who is up against Sergino Dest and Sergi Roberto.
The London side has recently emerged as the favorite to sign Emerson, and according to the Daily Mail, Barcelona have accepted a £25.7 million deal after turning down the chance to swap him for Serge Aurier.
Tottenham are still hoping to sell Aurier before Tuesday's 12 a.m. deadline, according to the report, and they have beaten North London rivals Arsenal to the signing of Emerson.
Barcelona are rumored to be interested in signing Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin as a replacement for Emerson, who scored five goals and assisted on ten more in 79 games for Betis.
