Christian Eriksen: ‘I died for five minutes’

We all still remember the scary moment. Christian Eriksen has relived his near-death experience while playing for Denmark at the 2020 EURO.

The former Inter Milan and Tottenham Hotspur star collapsed in Denmark's opening group stage battle against Finland in June last year.

The 29-year-old is was since released by Inter, as Italy does not support footballers to play with implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICD).

"It was amazing that so many people felt the need to write or send flowers,” Danish TV channel DR 1.

"It had an impact on so many people and they felt the need to let me and my family know. That made me very happy.

"At the hospital, they kept saying I'd receive more and more flowers.

"It was weird because I didn't expect people to send flowers - because I died for five minutes.

"It was quite extraordinary, but it was very nice of everyone and it's been a big help to me to receive all those best wishes. And people still write to me,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, Eriksen has been publicly expressing his desire to find a new club in order to continue doing what he loves.
