EFL CUP: Liverpool beat Arsenal to book final date with Chelsea

Liverpool advanced to the finals of the EFL Cup following a 2-0 victory over Arsenal in the second leg staged at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal had a better start to the game with Saka being sent forward on the six-yard line to put Kelleher under pressure.

In the 5th minute, Arsenal went close to taking the lead but was denied by the bar. The Gunners were awarded a freekick just outside the box, Lacazette stepped up but his effort kissed the woodwork.

Out of nowhere, Liverpool had the ball at the back of the net from Joel Matip but the Liverpool defender was in an offside position.

After 19 minutes of play, Diogo Jota put Liverpool in front with a cool and simple finish. Tomoyasu looked every bit a player back in the side after the injury as Jota cut in off the left before unleashing a low shot past Ramsdale.

Jota double

Diogo Jota scored his second of the game after being put through on goal by Alexander-Arnold. He appeared to be in the offside position as he put the ball past onrushing Ramsdale. There was a quick VAR but the goal stood.

Red card

Thomas Partey was sent off for receiving the second yellow following a foul on Fabinho. Arsenal were forced to finish the tie with ten men just like they did in the first leg.
