🚨 AFCON 2021: Tournament favourites Nigeria knocked out by unfancied Tunisia

Youssef Msakni scored the only goal of the match as Tunisia bundled out tournament favourites Nigeria in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Cameroon.

The Super Eagles went into the match with 100% record having won all their group matches and were favourites against an unfancied Tunisia team that won only one and lost two of their group matches.

The Super Eagles started the match as expected, enjoying possession and forcing Tunisia to chase the match.

Despite their possession, it was Tunisia who had the first sight of goal in the 10th minute when Montassar Talbi collected a pass inside the box and unleashed a shot that was brilliantly blocked by a defender.

Kelechi Iheanacho was then shown a yellow card just before the half-hour mark, ruling him out of the quarter-finals match in case the Eagles sailed through.

It was a dream start to the second half for Tunisia as they went ahead after just two minutes against the run of play.

Msakni received a ball on the left wing and cut inside before creating some space for himself a few yards from the 18-yard box where he unleashed a long-range shot that beats Maduka Okoye in goal for a 1-0 lead.

Nigeria were then reduced to 10 men just after the hour mark after Alex Iwobi was shown a red card for a poor challenge, leaving the eagles with an uphill task.

Despite numerous attacks, Nigeria could not find a way back into the match as they bid goodbye to the competition.

The Carthage Eagles, on the other hand, joined Burkina Faso in the quarter-finals.
