Black Leopards head coach Dylan Kerr has expressed disappointment over the fans’ call to substitute Thokozani Sekotlong against Bidvest Wits in Thohoyandou last night.
Leopards lost 3-2 on penalties to exit the Nedbank Cup with the British coach gracefully accepting defeat, though he was not happy with the crowd’s momentarily behaviour on the night.
“I do know the fans are passionate about the game, but I don’t like it when they make the substitution [gesture]...
“I do know they have an opinion and pay their money to do that but we got a player who just joined the club who had his first real 45 minutes. I did not substitute him for that, I was thinking about it 10 minutes before half time to put Lefa [Hlongwane] on for his pace and trickery.
“I do understand the fans get frustrated but give him time. He is a good player... an honest hard-working lad. But sometimes in football, it does not go for you but he is strong and will learn from it. He is a team player and it is good to have that,” Kerr concluded.
