Ambrose set to make his debut for Derby County

Efe Ambrose could be seen making his maiden debut for Derby County when the U23s take on Bristol City in the Premier League Cup on Sunday, February 24.

The Nigeria international was recently signed as a free agent and manager Frank Lampard has expressed concern about the defender's match fitness, so he has to build up his fitness by playing for the U23s.

Although Ambrose made 29 appearances this term for Scottish Premiership side Hibernian, his last competitive game was close to two months ago against Heart of Midlothian, it means he still has some work to do.

Ambrose will reportedly compete with the likes of Fikayo Tomori, Richard Keogh and Jayden Bogle for the defensive positions in the first team.

Tipped as being capable of playing as a central defender, right back and defensive midfield, Ambrose hopes to bring his versatility and experience to the Rams who are pushing for a playoff spot.

Festy Ebosele and Aaron Eyoma are the other Nigeria-eligible players currently on books of Derby County.
