Leopards coach Kerr on missed goals in Africa: "They watch Madrid, Barcelona..."

Black Leopards head coach Dylan Kerr has expressed hurt over the high numbers of goals that get missed in the Absa Premiership and Africa as a whole.

The former Gor Mahia coach shared his feelings after seeing his side draw 0-0 with Highlands Park on Sunday.

“I want to write on my epithet… on my burial stone: “live life long, prosper and take your chances. I said to you before the game, this is what we are lacking. That final chance,” Kerr told SuperSport TV after the game.

“We hit the post twice, Lefa [Hlongwane] could have had five goals today. That is what is hurting us. This is what the players...not just my players but in a lot of Africans team, a lot in the PSL. We have to get comfortable in accepting that if we don’t score, what is wrong? Am I going to work at it? Do I want to work at it?

Kerr went to cite the quality and ease of goal-scoring in world football that players should study closely.

“We work at it everyday… some goals I see are absolutely out of this world. Today [there was] tap-ins, sidefoots…

“I think I’m just going to get a video with the hundred best goals in the world and repeat it and repeat it. We are going to watch it and I’m going to put toothpicks in their eyes like that [ses his fingers to open his eyes] so they don’t fall asleep.

“They watch the Premier League, when they watch it, and when they watch Real Madrid and Barcelona, do they not see how simple it is to score a goal? You know it baffles me, it hurts me. I mean if I wasn’t doing my job and if we weren’t doing it then people can look at me. We create so many chances. I would love to see the stats to see how many chances we had. How many shots off and on target. I think we got double than Highlands Park did. I have faith in these players. I got belief in them. I just wish they had belief in scoring,” Kerr concluded.
