Gor Mahia fined over half a million shillings by CAF

Reigning Kenyan Premier League champions Gor Mahia have been slapped with a 5000 USD (Ksh. 500, 000 approx) by African football governing body, CAF for pelting water bottles into the pitch in the Confederations Cup clash against Nasr Athlétique de Hussein Dey

In a letter addressed to Gor Mahia, CAF noted that bottles were thrown into the pitch in celebration for the second goal, "After the second goal of Team A, the fans of Team A celebrated the goal by throwing water bottles on to the pitch, however, the Stewards managed to take control of the situation and only a few water bottles reached the Team B substitution bench."

A disciplinary meeting was held in Cario, Egypt, where K'Ogalo were found to breach Articles 82, 83.1, 83.2 and 151 of CAF Disciplinary Code which state that, "National associations, clubs, officials and members, as well as their players, shall respect the principles of loyalty, integrity, sportsmanship, and ethics.

"National associations, clubs, and officials are responsible for ensuring that the game is not brought into disrepute in any way whatsoever by the conduct of their players, officials, members, supporters, spectators (especially using dangerous objects and/or lasers ) and any other persons exercising a function at a match at the request of the association or club.

"The host association or club is responsible for order and security both inside and around the stadium before, during and after the match." Gor Mahia will have 60 days to settle their fine to CAF.
