Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Pitso Mosimane has admitted he has not successfully replaced Percy Tau and Khama Billiat.
Mosimane reviewed his signings soon after seeing his side get knocked out of the CAF Champions League semi-finals on Saturday.
Needing at least a 1-0 win, Sundowns’ forward line failed to break a watertight Wydad Casablanca defence.
“Some of the signings did not work. It needs to be a little different upfront in terms of scoring goals,” Mosimane told Soccer Laduma.
The former Bafana Bafana coach further implied that the likes of Aubrey Ngoma, Ali Meza, Toni Silva and Jeremi Brockie are failed signings.
“We tried to reinforce. We tried after we lost Khama and Percy, our top strikers. We signed Ali Meza, Toni Silva, Brockie, Aubrey Ngoma and them…to try and maybe close the gap. But the reality is that the gap was not closed.
“That’s the truth. And when you lose those two strikers, it’s a bit difficult to maintain. We are a team in construction, and I will say that whether we win or lose,” concluded Pitso.
In the meantime, Kabo Yellow are facing a potential league title win in tomorrow’s penultimate game against Golden Arrows.
A win against Arrows as well as Free State Stars on Saturday will crown Sundowns as the 2018/19 champions.
