Bayern Munich urged to sign backup striker

13 Jun 2019, 00:40

Robert Lewandowski has urged Bayern Munich to sign a backup striker.

The Bundesliga giants are expected to bring in new offensive players during this summer transfer window after the club released Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery. The club has been linked with a move for Manchester City winger Leroy Sane who has emerged as the prime transfer target for the club. And the Poland international has admitted his side should look to add one more striker to the squad as he believes such signing would allow him to get proper rest.

If you have the option of a second striker, that’s better – for the team and for me. I can watch the game from the outside and see how the team plays without me,” he told Kicker.

Sandro Wagner was deployed in the role of backup striker at Bayern till January, but the German striker eventually decided to leave the club to join Tianjin Teda.
