2018 Kenyan Premier League champions Mathare United have called for a three-day trial in a bid to boost the team ahead of the new season.
This has been a norm for United in recent seasons and in a statement on their official social media feeds, the club stated that the trials will be at their Goan training base in Nairobi with the sessions in the three days commencing at 9:30 am EAT.
The statement noted: “There will be open trials at Goan Institute grounds for three days starting Monday, June 24 to Wednesday, June 26.
“Interested players should report at 9.30am and be in proper training kit.”
Mathare had started the just concluded brilliantly and had been billed to challenge for the title only to fall short with the Francis Kimanzi coached charges managing a sixth-place finish.
With head coach Kimanzi with the national team in Egypt for the Africa Cup of Nations, the trial sessions are expected to be led by his assistant Salim Ali.
Seldomly would you find the team lose players but rumours have been rife that the team is set to lose forward Cliff Nyakeya who was the club’s top goal scorer last season to KPL newbies Wazito FC.
