Gavin Hunt comments on Bafana coaching link

Bidvest Wits coach Gavin Hunt says being linked linked with the Bafana Bafana job is nothing new.

The Wits coach is still one of the Absa Premiership’s most successful coaches who has never been afforded his chance to lead the nation.

“I won’t talk about the national team job while there is a coach there‚” Hunt told Times Live.

“For many years‚ my name has been linked with Bafana but to be honest my focus at the moment is on Bidvest Wits and our pre-season.”

The Cape Town-born coach who has won no less than four league titles, Nedbank, MTN8 and TKO trophies, believes that discussing the job while Stuart Baxter is there is not respectful.

"It would be disrespectful to Stuart Baxter for me to go around talking about the national team job while there is a coach there.”

"I would also feel disrespected if another coach talks about the Wits coaching job while I am still there.”

"I am focused on pre-season because I need to build a competitive team for next season than thinking about Bafana,” concluded Hunt.
