12 Jul 2019, 11:35

Arsenal have reportedly slapped an £8.8million price tag on captain Laurent Koscielny, as they plot a sale in the current window.

The former Lorient man caused a stir on Thursday when he refused to travel with the rest of the Arsenal team for a preseason tour and the club has responded by placing him in the transfer market.

Koscielny has indicated that he wants to leave the club, after nine years since his arrival from France.

The 33-year-old former French international still has a year left on his current contract but is said to be keen on a return to his native country.

Bordeaux, Rennes and Lyon all interested in his services, and Arsenal have reportedly resolved to place him in the market.

The club indicated on Thursday that they will take disciplinary actions against Koscielny, who made has made 353 appearances for Arsenal since joining from Lorient in 2010, scoring 27 goals and winning two FA Cups.

"We are very disappointed by Laurent’s actions, which are against our clear instructions. We hope to resolve this matter and will not be providing any further comment at this time," read part of the statement.

The club is said to be close to capturing William Saliba from St. Etienne and might use the funds from Koscielny's sale to buy another defender.
