Manchester United head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has admitted youngster Mason Greenwood could start against Chelsea in the Premier League opener.
Solskjaer has revealed the United youngster could be in contention to face Chelsea when his side opens the Premier League campaign. The teenager once again caught the eye of many as he featured in Red Devils 4-0 win over Leeds in their second pre-season match in Perth. The 17-year-old grabbed the opener for his side in the 7th minute, tapping home Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s cross. Greenwood also impressed in United’s 2-0 win over Perth Glory on Saturday and Solskjaer has now admitted there is a possibility of the forward starting against Chelsea at Old Trafford.
“He’s got a chance to start that one. Yeah, definitely,” he said after the match.
“He’s capable, more than capable, and he’ll always be there, in and around the box creating chances, and I won’t say that’s not a possibility. No, it’s a good possibility if he keeps going as he does. Difficult to keep players out that perform well.”
The club will continue with its pre-season matches against Inter Milan on Saturday 20th taking on Spurs five days later.
