Alex Iwobi has hinted he will leave Arsenal in search of first-team opportunities if the club signs Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha.
The Nigerian has, however, indicated he will not give up his position easily and will fight, but cannot be on the sidelines waiting for long.
The Gunners have courted the Ivory Coast international for long periods in the current transfer window, having had a £40 million bid rejected by Palace.
“I am not one to chicken out,” the 23-year-old told The Sun. “I have had it all over the years, being told I’m not good enough.
“So whenever the chance comes I always try and prove I should be starting. But it’s going to be difficult if Zaha comes. He will add more stress. Obviously, my joy is to play football and not just sit out,"
“If it comes to that I would have no choice but to leave. But I would always put up a fight to play – that is what I’ve done all my life,"
Iwobi has not nailed a starting role fully at the club and will be even more worried with Arsenal linked to more wide-men including Everton Soares and Barcelona's Malcolm.
The Gunners are also expected to up their bid for Zaha in the coming weeks, with reports further indicating they are willing to add players to sweeten the deal.
