Onyekuru denied work permit

Nigerian winger Henry Onyekuru has been denied work permit by the British Home Office.

According to Liverpool Echo, the Everton striker may play for another season on loan as he cannot secure work permit in Britain.

Onyekuru has played on loan for two seasons (Anderlecht and Galatasaray) since joining English Premier League club Everton.

Onyekuru must have played at least 75 per cent of the Super Eagles matches over the previous two years to be granted a permit to play in England.

But just six matches in the previous 12 months for the Super Eagles forced his denial.

The 22-year-old joined Everton in 2017 but has not featured for the side.

He made one appearance for Nigeria at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
