Kenyan midfielder Alwyn Tera was handed a start as Saburtalo came from behind to beat Ararat-Armenia 2-1 in the first leg of the third round qualifying of the UEFA Europa Leauge.
This was the first match that Tera was starting after the 2-0 loss at the hands of Dynamo Zagreb in the second round of UEFA Champions League qualifying. The loss meant that Saburtalo dropped to the Europa League and took on Ararat in an away first-leg tie.
Anton Kobyalko opened the scoring for Ararat a minute after the half-hour mark as they went into the break with their lead. Tera was withdrawn in the 71st minute for Levan Kenia with the substitution working its magic immediately when Sandro Altunashvili restored parity for Saburtalo a minute later.
Kenia then got into the scoresheet in the 76th minute as Saburtalo sealed a vital away win ahead of the second leg a week later. Should Saburtalo win the two-legged tie, they will enter the Play-offs with a win enough to see them grace the group stages of the Europa League.
