Five major transfers that could still happen before Thursday's deadline

The Premier League summer transfer window will officially shut on Thursday night, a day before the first match of the season between Liverpool and Norwich.

Players and clubs alike are pushing to beat the transfer deadline, and we expect the usual drama that characterizes the day.

We take a look at some of the transfers that could still happen, despite various obstacles.

1. Lukaku to Inter Milan

Lukaku's supposed move to Inter Milan is one of the longest transfer sagas of the current summer window. The Italian giants have not made their intentions of taking the 26-year-old to Italy a secret.

United's valuation has however been the stumbling block for the former Chelsea star switching to the Serie A, with reports indicating a third bid in the region of £69million has been rejected.

United want more than the £75million they paid for the striker when they snapped him up from Everton, but with Conte eager to line him up at Inter, a deal could be struck before the transfer lights go off.

2. Pogba to Real Madrid, Juventus

Real Madrid have been keen on the Frenchman this summer, but have not tabled any bid. Any transfer will, however, involve more players, with United unwilling to let him leave without having a replacement.

In such case, United's pursuit of Eriksen can prove key; if they land the Danish, then it will unlock the other side of the bargaining table and allow Pogba to move to Madrid.

Juventus too are said to be keen on their former player, but seem to also have issues of their own and will need to free up some space, and funds as well, to move for Pogba.

3. Dybala to Tottenham

Tottenham are currently ahead of the queue for the services of the Argentine. He was initially linked with Manchester United, but the talk seems to have died down.

Reports on Wednesday indicated that Spurs and Juventus had agreed on a fee in the region of £64.5, and the only thing remaining was the player's camp agreeing on personal terms with Spurs.

That can easily be done, with the London-club proving they can play with the big boys in the market when they recently paid a club-record fee for Tanguy Ndombele.

4. Coutinho to Tottenham

Spurs mean business. With reports indicating they have agreed on terms with Dybala, Pochettino seems keen on putting together a serious attack that can challenge in the Premier League and Europe.

Philippe Coutinho has so far 'joined' six clubs in the last four days, with the latest being Arsenal, who later distanced themselves from the deal, saying they were only keen on a defender.

It is, however, emerging that Coutinho might join Spurs on loan, and it might happen with less than 48 hours remaining. EPL take note.

5. Rugani to Arsenal

Arsenal's search for a new defender has taken them to Italy, at Juve. The club is said to be in talks to sign Daniele Rugani, who, according to Emery, is seen one who will solve their defensive issues.

Arsenal are said to be keen on getting their man and have offered different options to Juventus including taking him on loan for a season with a mandatory clause to buy him a the end of the season.

If they keep knocking, they can get the Italian. Fans will, however, hope it doesn't turn out to be another Kieran Tierney.
