'I'm in love with VAR' - Pochettino

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has 'defended' the VAR in the wake of a controversial decision during their match against Manchester City on Sunday evening.

The Argentine could have left Etihad without a point, but a VAR decision denied Manchester City a goal in stoppage time, which could have given them a 3-2 win over the Lillywhites.

Pochettino's men came twice from behind in the entertaining contest to pick an unlikely point, and he defended the decision after the match, further claiming he 'was in love' with VAR.

"I am in love with VAR. I agreed from the beginning when we first talked about introducing VAR. Sometimes you get the benefit, like today, the Champions League and of course, we cannot stop the evolution of technology,"

"But it's difficult to accept because we love football and that 30 years ago, it was only the decision of the referee when something unfair happens,"

"We need to accept that we live in different era in football now and we also need to accept that today it was a benefit for us."

The use of the new technology has sparked debates in different matches, with the latest being the Chelsea vs Liverpool game in the Uefa Super Cup in midweek when Adrian was clearly off the line as Tammy Abraham took his penalty.

Pep Guardiola was left fuming after the decision, calling on more consistency in the use of the new technology.
