Absa Premiership side Bidvest Wits have made a shock decision to release three of their footballers after a month of the new season.
Though Wits are yet to make the announcement, the news report has come out from leading local publications Soccer Laduma this morning.
According to the report, Robyn Johannes, Prince Nxumalo and Fagrie Lakay are the players the club have moved on.
“Robyn Johannes, Fagrie Lakay and Prince Nxumalo have now become free agents as the Clever Boys made last minute changes to a squad that coach Gavin Hunt said had been affected by budget constraints ahead of the start of the 2019/20 season,” wrote Soccer Laduma.
Meanwhile, Johannes and Lakay are expected to move to Benni McCarthy’s Cape Town City after the club’s failed attempts to capture the duo ahead of the transfer window deadline.
It now remains an imminent confirmation that Johannes will head to the Citizens after McCarthy repeatedly pleaded with his chairman to sign an experienced central defender.
