Zimbabwe forward Khama Billiat scored the goal of his international career before dedicating it to the late Robert Mugabe.
Speaking to the media after the incredible moment, the 29-year-old said the win feels great but the most important thing was the right tribute to the late state president Robert Mugabe who died last weekend.
“It feels good to win as a team,” Billiat told 263Chat. “I don’t know how the situation could have turned to be if we had lost to pay our last respects to our hero.”
The Mufakose-raised star proceeded to mention the reasons he holds Mugabe in high regards. Billiat appreciated Mugabe for his efforts to nation’s sports.
“With his body arriving tomorrow (today) the win will be a befitting send-off. He is someone who has done a lot for Zimbabwean sports and the nation at large,” added Billiat.
The Aces Youth academy prodigy describes Mugabe as a man with great mental powers and affection for his own kind. “For us to be here right now, at this hotel it’s because of him and his intelligence and his love for his people.”
“I just want to say this is for you our hero, someone we will never forget for his contribution to the liberation for this country. May your dear soul rest in peace,” concluded Billiat.
