After their second-half capitulation at the hands of Watford, Arsenal manager Unai Emery has revealed that he took off Dani Ceballos due to the hot conditions.
The Spanish midfielder was handed a start against Watford after being named on the bench in the 2-2 draw against Tottenham Hotspur before the international break. At the stroke of the hour mark, Ceballos was rested for Joe Willock, a substitution that left fans baffled despite Arsenal struggling to get keep possession.
Speaking in a press conference after the draw, Emery was asked why he took off Ceballos, "Today it was very hot. We needed some fresh players in the second half. We were struggling. I was thinking how we can improve with three fresh players to give us more energy and more capacity to be strong: physically, tactically and technically."
Arsenal will be hoping to redeem themselves in the UEFA Europa League clash on Thursday 19th September against Eintracht Frankfurt.
