Arsenal 5-0 Nottingham Forest: Youngsters wreak havoc at Emirates

Arsenal produced a five-star performance as they compounded Nottingham Forest to a 5-0 thumping with Gabriel Martinelli bagging a brace in the Carabao Cup clash.

Martinelli goal

The Gunners were up to a slow start in terms of chances created but enjoyed majority of the possession. Unai Emery's men had to wait till the 31st minute to break the deadlock when Reiss Nelson sprayed a pass wide right to Calum Chambers, who volleyed a first-time cross towards Martinelli at the near post. The Brazilian twisted in mid-air to slam the ball home.

Holding goal 

Arsenal doubled their lead in the 71st minute when Riess Nelson whipped in a corner that was nodded in by Rob Holding to mark his return with a goal since suffering an injury against Manchester United in December.

Willock goal

Forest's resistance was broken as six minutes later Arsenal put the game to bed when Hector Bellerin who had just been on the pitch for minutes put in a cut back cross to Joe Willock to tap home from six yards out as the youngsters' continued with their goal scoring exploits in the game. 

Nelson goal

Unai Emery's men were not taking their foot off the gas as they bagged their fourth in the 84th minute when Reiss Nelson brilliantly guided Callum Chambers low cross across the face of goal into the net to continue the fine week that Chambers has had after scoring in the 3-2 comeback win over Aston Villa.

Martinelli brace

The final nail in Forest's coffin was nailed by Martinelli who announced himself to the Emirates faithful with a brace after a fine solo run which ended with a sumptuous finish to the top corner with that man again Chambers supplying the assist. 

Arsenal next face Manchester United on Monday 30th September at Old Trafford while Nottingham Forest face Stoke City on Friday 27th September.
