Lucas Torreira reacts to limited game time this season at Arsenal

After featuring sparingly at Arsenal this season, Lucas Torreira has revealed that he will respect Unai Emery's decisions on squad selections.

During his first season after his £27million move from Sampdoria, Torreira played a key role at Arsenal as they finished fifth and got to the final of the Europa League. With the arrival of Dani Ceballos on loan from Real Madrid and Matteo Guendouzi improving his form, Torreira has slipped down the pecking order at the Arsenal.

The Uruguayan spoke of his limited game time under Unai Emery's second season at the club, "I don't know whether I'd say it's frustrating. All players want to play, they obviously want to be in the starting XI - that's completely normal. But that's not something that depends on me.

"It's down to the coach to make those decisions and really I have to respect that. Right now it's about not giving up. You have to continue working hard and whether I'm playing in the starting XI or from the bench I want to give my all for the team. That's the kind of player I am. I like to give 100% for the shirt to help my team-mates and to give the fans something to cheer about."

Torreira has started just two games this season, on both occasions being used in a box-to-box role and at times functioning as the most advanced midfielder, a role he does not appear to be immediately suited to.
