Juventus FC star man Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 700th career goal in Portugal’s 2-1 loss at the hands of Ukraine in a UEFA Euro Qualifier on Monday.
The Portugal forward star tucked in a penalty in the 72nd minute after hosts Ukraine had raced to a two-goal lead through Roman Yaremchuk and West Ham United star Andriy Yarmolenko.
The 700th goal mark officially makes the former Manchester United man the sixth-highest scorer in football history.
The goal saw him reach the 700 goal milestone with Gerd Müller (735), Ferenc Puskás (746), Pele (767), Romario (772) and Joef Biscan (805 goals).
Ronaldo is also hunting down the record for the best goalscorer in international stage with his 95 goals being a little short of former Iran striker Ali Daei, who currently holds the international goalscoring record on 109 goals.
The official breakdown of Ronaldo’s goals:
- 450 – Real Madrid
- 118 – Manchester United
- 95 – Portugal
- 32 – Juventus
- 7 – Sporting CP
