Harambee Stars defender Joseph Okumu amassed full minutes as IF Elfsborg emerged 2-0 winners over IFK Goteborg in an Allsvenskan clash staged at the Boras Arena on Monday 28 October.
Rasmus Alm gave the hosts a 34th-minute lead before Jesper Karlson doubled their tally five minutes after the half time break.
The win sees Elfsborg at position eight on the league log with 40 points; five points below their opponents who are placed a position above them.
The game was Okumu’s third in the division since joining them in the summer from USA side Real Monarch and he will hope to get more playing time when they come up against Helsingborg in their next league tie on Saturday 2 November.
Harambee Stars Camp
After the league game, the defender is expected to join the Harambee Stars team that will prepare for the start of the 2021 AFCON Qualifier against Egypt in Cairo in the same month.
Apart from Egypt, Stars have Togo and the Comoro Islands to contend with in Group G, with qualification running from October 7, 2019, until November 2020.
The Francis Kimanzi coached side will hope that they can be in the competition for the second time on the trot after featuring in the 2019 competition held in Egypt early this year; an adventure that saw them exit the competition in the group stage.
