Emery calls for patience from Arsenal fans, promises to turn things around

Arsenal manager Unai Emery is calling for patience from the club's fans as he works on turning things around following a run of deteriorating results.

The Spaniard saw his team succumb to a 2-0 defeat at the King Power Stadium against a clinical Leicester, marking another low in the club's recent run.

Fans have been calling for his sacking, but the former PSG man is calling for calm as they work on turning tides at the Emirates.

"I accept it all. I accept the applause and I accept it when they criticise us. I know when we win, they are going to be happy and when we lose, they are going to be sad. It's normal,"

"For me, as a coach, it's about continuing stronger and improving with our players. I am speaking with the club to stay calm and to stay patient to improve and recover some confidence with some circumstances,"

Despite the loss, Emery said the team played according to plans and tactics, and were the better side in some spells.

"We can be disappointed with the result but with the attitude of the players, they did the game plan we prepared for. We started the first half by having chances by controlling the game, and at the start of the second half too,"

Second-half goals from Jamie Vardy and James Maddison were enough to condemn the Gunners to yet another defeat, with the Foxes moving to second on the table.

The defeat also saw Chelsea, who won 2-0 against Crystal Palace open a nine-point gap in the race for a top-four finish.
