France coach Didier Deschamps still has Anthony Martial in his plans

Manchester United striker Anthony Martial is still in the plans of French coach Didier Deschamps despite being omitted from the latest squad.

Martial who is returning from injury has been a breath of fresh air for United but Deschamps chose to overlook him instead of choosing to pick Olivier Giroud who has rarely featured for Chelsea this season.

But in a press conference on Monday, Deschamps confirmed that the player was still in his plans despite not selecting him for the past one year.

"He was part of the French team on a regular basis, but recently he was often injured. He came back not so long ago and it's going well in his role as a central striker with Manchester United. For a long time he's been part of the players likely to be called up," Deschamps said.

Ashley Young Criticism

The decision to leave Martial out was criticized by United captain Ashley Young who believed it was an error on Deschamps' part.

"The way Anthony plays with Marcus (Rashford) is unplayable at times. Anthony was a big miss when he was injured. You can see he is a natural goal scorer. For me I think France are missing out- I can't understand why he's not in their squad. That is up to them but he can only get better," Young said.

France is slated to take Moldovia on Friday with a win booking them a place in the 202 Euros.
