Who's in who's out? Top stars who will miss international action due to injuries

The last international break of the year is here with us, meaning no domestic action for the next two weeks, at least across major leagues.

There will be plenty of action across many continents, with Euro 2020 qualifiers and the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers taking centre stage.

In addition, there are international friendlies for both the senior teams as well as the youth teams, resulting in a good balance of football action.

For many of Europe's stars, this presents a chance to mingle with other international teammates plying their trade in different leagues.

There are some though who will not have the chance to represent their nations due to injuries;

🇪🇸 Dani Ceballos - Spain

The creative midfielder was injured while on duty with Arsenal in the Europa League, having been withdrawn after just five minutes with a hamstring injury. He missed the match against Leicester and will was not called to the Spanish team.

🇪🇬 Mohamed Salah - Egypt

Salah was recalled to the national team having missed the last two breaks due to an injury but will miss real action yet again, after an injury against Manchester City on Sunday.

He was set to play Kenya and Comoros in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier match.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Scott McTominay - Scotland

The Manchester United midfielder will miss this round of qualifiers after an injury while playing for the club against Brighton over the weekend.

He had initially suffered a knock in mid-week during the Europa League match against Partizan but aggravated it in the Premier League.

🇺🇸 Christian Pulisic - USA

Captain America, as fans call him, has withdrawn from the national team after a hip injury he suffered in their 2-0 win over Crustal Palace on Saturday.

The winger, who is in fine form scored the second of the match, his fifth of the season, but won't have the chance to shine for the national team.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Ross Barkley - England

The Chelsea midfielder withdrew from the England squad having failed to recover in good time following a troubling injury that has seen him miss a host of Chelsea matches.

He was among five  Chelsea players in the Three Lions team, which will play against Kosovo and Montenegro.

🇦🇷 Marcos Rojo - Argentina

The defender was called up to represent Argentina in their upcoming friendly matches against Brazil and Uruguay, in Saudi Arabia and Israel respectively.

The defender has, however, been withdrawn so he can work on recovering from a minor injury he has been carrying in recent weeks.

🇫🇷 Guendouzi for Matuidi - France

Arsenal's Matteo Guendouzi was called up to the France squad to replace Juventus star Blaise Matuidi, who is suffering from a rib injury.

The midfielder has been rewarded for his impressive season so far and has been promoted from the U-21 team that he was called up to in the last internationals.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Fabian Delph

The midfielder withdrew from the England squad and returned to Everton for rehabilitation from a hamstring injury.

He has been dogged by hamstring injuries, and he arrived at the Three Lions camp hoping to be fit for the last two Euro qualifiers fixtures.
