Mwepu leads 24-member U20 squad for COSAFA

Kafue Celtic striker Francisco Mwepu leads the 24-member Zambia U20 national team named by coach Osward Mutapa for the U20 COSAFA Championships.

The young brother to Chipolopolo midfielder Enock Mwepu has been in fantastic form for his club scoring seven goals in the Eden University/FAZ National Division One league. The Young Copper Bullets will be looking to win their first title on home soil as they are hosting it for the third straight time.

The 24-member squad is a blend of first-timers and also stars that were elevated from the under-17 tournament-winning squad in 2017 in Mauritius who have participated in the last two editions.

Zambia will open their campaign on December 4 with a tie against Botswana at Nkoloma Stadium before taking on Comoros three days later at the same venue and will conclude their group matches with a tie against Malawi on December 9.

The tournament will be staged in Lusaka from December 4-14.
