Manchester City in the hunt for supporter who made racial gestures during tie against Man United

Manchester City have confirmed they are searching for a supporter who allegedly made racial gestures during the tense Manchester derby played on Saturday evening.

In a video doing rounds on social media, the fan is seen making some racial gestures that were directed at Man United midfielder Fred as he was taking a corner.

There were also objects thrown at the midfielder at the corner flag, with players from both sides seen trying to calm down the fans.

In a statement after the match, the club indicated they are working closely with Manchester Police to identify the supporter, further indicating they 'operate a zero-tolerance' policy regarding discrimination of any kind.

"Officials from the Club are working with Greater Manchester Police in order to help them identify any individuals concerned and assist with their inquiries,"

"The Club are also working with GMP regarding an instance of objects being thrown onto the field of play,"

"The Club operates a zero-tolerance policy regarding discrimination of any kind, and anyone found guilty of racial abuse will be banned from the club for life,"

Manchester City suffered their second home defeat of the season at the hands of their City rivals, which saw them fall further in the title race with league leaders Liverpool opening a 14-point lead.
