Having played together during their Arsenal days, Ashley Cole has backed Freddie Ljungberg to take over the reins from Unai Emery permanently at the Emirates Stadium.
The Swede ended Arsenal's nine-match winless run with a win against West Ham United and has registered draws against Norwich City and Standard Liege while losing to Brighton and Hove Albion.
In an interview with Sky Sports, Cole revealed his pick to replace Emery, "Freddie is there and hopefully he can take over as permanent manager - he knows the club inside out.
"Freddie was my friend at Arsenal and hopefully he can change some things there. Arsenal are in a transition period - they tried Emery and for whatever reason it didn't work out."
There have been a couple of managers linked to the Arsenal job including Mauricio Pochettinho, Mikel Arteta, Patrick Viera, and Marcelino.
