Everton are reportedly in advanced talks to sign teenage sensation Jarrad Branthwaite from Carlisle United in League Two as the January transfer window progresses.
According to Football Insider, Everton had approached the club with an offer but they found themselves being rejected, however, it appears that the Premier League side are confident with their new bid as they look to secure Branthwaite's services.
Further reports revealed that Carlisle United have accepted that they will be losing their asset and it comes at no surprise as the 17-year-old has emerged on the radar of some top clubs in the England topflight.
Carlisle are believed to have placed a price tag of £1million-plus, including add-ons for any club that wants to sign their defender.
Everton had initially placed a bid of £500,000 but it is believed that the Toffees have prepared a new bid and hoping to conclude negotiation talks at the end of this week.
The 17-year-old has made 14 appearances across all competitions this season and he has been in the starting lineup in all those games.
Despite being set for a move away from the club, the young defender is contracted to Carlisle until the summer of 2021 after he penned a new two-year deal with an option to renew back in February 2019.
