Mason Greenwood equals 36-year record with goal against Tranmere

After scoring in the 0-6 whitewash of Tranmere Rovers in an FA Cup Fourth Round clash, Mason Greenwood equaled a 36-year Manchester United record.

Greenwood converted a penalty in the second half to mark his 10th goal of the season after Tahith Chong was brought down by Tranmere goalkeeper Scott Davies.

He now becomes the youngest Manchester United player to score 10 goals for the club since Norman Whiteside in 1984 – some 36 years ago.

Greenwood has made just 13 starts in 34 appearances for the club, making his 10-goal haul all the more impressive.

Harry Maguire, Diogo Dalot, Jesse Lingard, Phil Jones, and Anthony Martial were also on the scoresheet as United advanced to the Fifth Round in emphatic fashion.

This was the first time that United had netted six goals in a single match since Sir Alex Ferguson left the club back in 2013.
