KCCA were denied a chance to go to the top of the Uganda Premier League table after suffering a 2-1 defeat in the hands of URA FC on Friday 31st at the Arena of Visions.
A win for KCCA could have seen them go above leaders Vipers who play tomorrow against Onduparaka. However, goals from Cromwell Rwothomio and Saidi Kyeyune were enough to hand the visitors fifth defeat of the season with Herbert Achai netting the consolation.
URA FC had a better start to the match and they had an early chance as Brian Majwega's freekick went over the bar. Another chance for the hosts came from a corner but Patrick Mbowa could not connect well as his header went wide for a corner.
The hosts were awarded a penalty in the 85th minute after KCCA's handled the ball inside the danger area. Cromwell Rwothomio made no mistake, converting from the spot.
Three minutes later, URA doubled their lead from a brilliant count attack as Kagium Shafik played in Saidi Kyeyune with the forward's attempt beating Lukwago for the second time.
In the stoppage time, Achai Herbert reduced KCCA's deficit to one but it was too late as the goal turned out to be a consolation for the visitors.
KCCA are currently second with 41 points after 20 matches while URA are fourth with 33.
